Colonel Mohamed Saleem

Colonel Mohamed Saleem is the Commandant of MNDF Coast Guard. Colonel Saleem joined MNDF on 05th September 1995 and was commissioned as a Lieutenant on1st January 2009.

During his 24 years career to date he has served in various command and staff positions including Officer in-charge Coastguard Cutter Burevi, Officer commanding Fast Attack Craft Iskandaru, Commanding officer Coastguard ship Huravee, Training Officer Coastguard Training Department, Instructor Maritime Training Centre, Staff Officer Coast Guard Headquarters, Search and Rescue Controller MRCC Maldives, Deputy Director, Director of Coast Guard and Deputy Commander of MNDF Southern Area.

He has completed training in Indian Naval Academy INS Mandovi class of 56-ICC/09.Colonel Saleem has followed naval training at the Naval Academy India, sea training and Watch keeping on board various naval ships and establishments of Indian Navy. He is a graduate of International Maritime Officer School USA, completed Diving & Salvage in China, Search and Rescue in USA and Junior Command Course in Malaysia. He is also a graduate of 67th Staff Course at Defence Services Staff College Wellington India. He has taken part in a number of seminars, workshops and other programs related to Maritime Security namely Civil Response to Terrorism at Naval Post Graduate School Monterey, Small Craft Combatting Terrorism at NAVSCIATS Mississippi, Comprehensive Security Response to Terrorism APCSS Honolulu, and International Anti-Terrorism / Anti-Piracy Program at US Navy International Training Centre in Pensacola, FL.

Colonel Saleem is married and blessed with three children.
