Colonel Ibrahim Rasheed

Colonel Ibrahim Rasheed is the Commander of MNDF Southern Area.

Col Rasheed joined the Maldivian National Defence Force on the 11th of March1990. He is a graduate of Indian Military Academy (IMA). Col Rasheed began his career as an infantry Officer at Quick Reaction Force Unit 3.

Colonel Rasheed recently Commanded Presidential Guard (PG) of President of the Republic of Maldives during which time, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit was also under his command.

In his 27 years of dedicated service, Colonel has held various command and staff appointments, primarily in the field of close protection. His previous command posts include; Commander of Fire and Rescue Services, Principal Director of Administration and Personnel Services, MNDF HQ, Deputy Commanding Officer of Special Protection Group, Director of Marine Corp Head Quarters, Deputy Commanding Officer Regional Headquarters Kulhudhuffushi And Adjutant of Maldives National Cadet Corp. He is also the Vice President of Sports and Recreation Club of MNDF.

Col Rasheed is a trained Infantry officer. He is a graduate from the Defence Services Staff College of India. He has also actively participated workshops like Multinational Planning Augmentation Team (MPAT) Express 20 and Non Lethal Weapons Executive Seminar 2011(NOLES11).

The Officer’s Decorations include Defence Force Service Medal, Centenary Medal, Good Conduct Medal, SAARC Medal, Defence Force Service Ribbon, Long Service Ribbon, Dedicated Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon, Special Service Ribbon, Achievement Ribbon and Ribbon for Skill.

Col Rasheed is married and is blessed with two sons.
