Colonel Abdul Rauf

Colonel Abdul Rauf is the Defence Advisor at the High Commission of the Maldives in Malaysia. Colonel Rauf was born on the 31st of March 1971 and graduated from the English Preparatory and Secondary School before enlisting in the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) on 19th April 1992. Not long after his enlistment, he was selected for officer training abroad. He was commissioned to the rank of lieutenant upon graduation from the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA).

Since then, he has held various command and staff appointments of prestige, including Commander Male’ Area, Principal Director of Marine Corps, Principal Director of Military Intelligence, Commanding Officer of the Special Assessment Unit, Principal Director of Operations and Training, Deputy Commander of MNDF Male’ Area and Acting Commander of the Defence Institute for Training and Education. In addition, he has also served as Principal Director of the MNDF Marine Corps and as Commanding Officer of Special Protection Group. His earlier command and staff appointments include the posts Deputy to the Commanding Officer of Fire and Rescue Service and Deputy Commanding Officer of Quick Reaction Forces I, II and III.

Colonel Rauf is one of the best trained soldiers in service today and has completed various training courses both locally and abroad. This includes Special Task Force training in the Maldives as well as the Infantry Officers Basic Course, the Infantry Captains Career Couse and the Army Instructor Training Course at United States Army Infantry School, Fort Benning, Georgia, USA.
