Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Aminath Shumra is currently working in Senahiya Military Hospital as a consultant in pediatrics.
Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Aminath Shumra joined the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) in August 2002.
Among notable work that she has carried out includes, working in L. Atoll in 2009 during a chikungunya and Dengue Fever endemic providing medical aid from the MNDF and conducting awareness program for the residents of the islands. In 2009 May she had represented Maldives at the APMMC held in South Korea and in 2016 she had represented Maldives at APMMHE held in Malaysia.
As a special interest she has done voluntary work in the community participating in health awareness programs for atolls conducted by Society for Health Education, an NGO in Maldives. She had also participated as a volunteer for Care Society, an NGO taking care of children with special needs.
She has completed her MBBS from Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, India in 2007 and underwent Internship training from Military Hospital Kirkee, Pune from 2007 to 2008. She has also completed her MD in Pediatrics from Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, India from May 2012 to May 2015.
Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Aminath Shumra is married to Major Ibrahim Zameer and has two children.
