Major Ahmed Rasheed

Major Ahmed Rasheed is Deputy Commander of the Special Forces of Maldives National Defense Force. He joined the Maldives National Defense Force on 18 December 2005 as a Recruit.

Upon Commissioning, Major Ahmed Rasheed was assigned as the Commander of Marines Deployment Unit-6. During his short period of tenure, he performed different staff functions at Northern Area MNDF and later he was selected for the Basic Marines Officer Course (BMOC) at Pakistan. He was awarded the best candidate in BMOC.

He continued his duties as a Marines Corp Officer at Marines Deployment Unit-1 as a platoon Leader till the completion of the Airborne and Special Operation Qualification Course in United States of America. He graduated from JFK Special Warfare Centre, Fort Bragg, NC and was awarded Green Beret in 2012 and assigned as a Team Leader at Special Forces MNDF. Upon joining Special Forces MNDF, he completed Advance Scuba Diving and Rescue Swimming (GOLD). He also completed Anti Hijacking and Hostage Rescue (AH&HR) in Sri Lanka. And also Special Operation Company Commander Course in China and he was awarded Best Student tittle. During the Special Operation Course at China, he held the appointment of Sports Commissioner. In January 2019, Major Ahmed Rasheed was appointed as Deputy Commander of Special Forces.

Major Ahmed Rasheed holds Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Military Arts from the Pakistan Military Academy.

Major Ahmed Rasheed’s decorations include the MNDF Good Conduct ribbons, Defence Force Service Ribbon, Dedicated Service Ribbon and 17th SAARC summit Medal and also United States Army Airborne Wings.

Major Ahmed Rasheed is married to Mrs. Thalhath Jaufar.
