Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh arrives in Maldives on an official visit

Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh, General Aziz Ahmed, arrived in Maldives today on an official visit.

General Aziz Ahmed was welcomed at Velana International Airport by Chief of Defence Force, Major General Abdulla Shamaal, Bangladesh High Commissioner to Maldives, Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Chief of Protocol, Aishath Shaan Shakir, and Commandant of MNDF Service Corps, Brigadier General Hamid Shafeeq.

General Aziz Ahmed is scheduled to meet with Minister of Defence, Hon. Mariya Ahmed Didi, Chief of Defence Force, Major General Abdulla Shamaal, as well as Vice Chief of Defence Force, Brigadier General AbdulRaheem AbdulLatheef, during his visit.

The Bangladesh Army has a long history of providing training and assistance to the Maldives National Defence Force. During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Bangladesh Army provided evacuation for Maldivian students stranded in Nepal, transported aid from Bangladesh to the Maldives and deployed a team of medical professionals from the Bangladesh Army’s Medical Corps that is still working alongside us in our fight against COVID-19.
