Chief of Naval Staff of Bangladesh, Admiral M Shaheen Iqbal has arrived in Maldives at the invitation of Chief of Defence Force, Major General Abdullah Shamaal.

At the visit, Chief of Naval Staff of Bangladesh, Admiral M Shaheen Iqbal called upon Minister of Defence, Uza Mariya Ahmed Didi as well as Chief of Defence Force, Major General Abdullah Shamaal. An honor guard was presented to Chief of Naval Staff of Bangladesh upon arrival to Ban’daara Koshi.

During the visit to Maldives from 14^th to 18^th January, Chief of Naval Staff of Bangladesh has met with the senior leadership of MNDF, discussing ways to further strengthen military cooperation. While Chief of Defence Force relayed thanks to Bangladesh in their aid in broadening capability of MNDF, strengthening defence as well as naval security was discussed at the meeting held.

Bangladesh has always aided Maldives in several fields. Even at the Tsunami of 2004, and throughout the covid pandemic ongoing, Maldives has been receiving aid in various forms.
