A goodwill visit by two navy ships from the Japan Self-Defence Force took place as they arrived in the Maldives.
The JS URAGA (Mine Sweeper Tender) and JS AWAJI (Mine Sweeper Ocean) will be anchored at the Male’ port from 29th March to 1st April. Upon arrival at the Male' Harbor, the MNDF Coast Guard's Principal Director greeted the two ships. The naval officers will also pay a courtesy call on Chief of Defence Force, Major General Abdulla Shamaal and MNDF Coast Guard Commandant, Colonel Ibrahim Hilmy.
Exchange programs such as information exchange programs, onboard visits, and recreational activities have been planned between the MNDF Coast Guard and the Japanese ships during this visit. These training programs and activities will enhance bilateral relations and promote peace in the region
