COL Dr. Ali Shahid Mohamed is currently the Surgeon of MNDF Medical Corps. He has been overseeing the transformation of the Medical Service in to the first Military Hospital in the Maldives. He is also the Chairperson of the Defence Medical Board and Chairperson of the MNDF Welfare Board.

COL Dr. Ali Shahid Mohamed joined the Maldives National Defence Force in 1990.

He has held and continues to hold many important portfolios in the civilian sector. He was previously the Registrar of the Maldives Medical Council and Chairperson of the National Parole Board. Presently he is the Chairperson of the Board of Governors of the National Drug Agency and Chairperson for the Governing board of National Drug fund. Apart from being a medical examiner and an Assessor for the Civil Aviation Authority he is also Vice Chairperson of the National Aids Council and a member International Health Regulation Committee. He also represents MNDF in various health programs and projects including National Inter sectorial Pandemic Preparedness Planning Committee. He is also Vice President of the Maldives Medical Association and also an Associate Member of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London.

He did his graduation and post graduation in Armed Forces Medical College, India where he specialized in Internal Medicine and did further studies in non-invasive Cardiology.

He has special interests in legal and environmental medicine and had attained further studies in these fields including aviation medicine and a Diploma Diving Medicine and a Post Graduate diploma in Medico legal systems. He has attended numerous other courses, seminars and many conferences on medicine and disaster related subjects.

During the course of his service spanning 28 years he has been awarded with the Presidential Medal, Life Saving Medal and Dedicated Service Medal along with numerous other decorations.
